December 20th 2020

emporium closure - tier 4

Due to Kent being placed into Tier 4 from the 20th December, Petticoat Lane Emporium (along with all other non-essential retail) has had to close it’s doors once again. To say we are devastated is an understatement but we will come back stronger still with all the relevant COVID measures in place. We can only hope that restrictions will be lifted on the next review date on 2nd December but we will of course keep you all informed.

Have a lovely Christmas and we will see you in the New Year!

December 2020

Emporium Reopening - 2nd December!

The Emporium will be reopening on Wednesday the 2nd December when the UK lockdown ends, hoorah! We will be reinstating our previous safety procedures including our one-way system, asking all customers and traders to sanitise their hands regularly, and requiring the use of masks (we will ask you to put one on if you arrive without).

Unfortunately due to Kent being placed in tier 3, Baker St Cafe is unable to resume services at this time - we will update you as soon as we are able to start serving food and beverages again!

We want to thank all our customers and traders for their continuing support throughout this year which has enabled our business, not only to survive but to thrive in these unprecedented times. We really hope you are able to get your Christmas shopping in and look forward to seeing you soon!

November 2020

Lockdown 2 - Emporium closure

As we are sure you are aware the Emporium & Cafe will have to close, along with all other non-essential businesses from Thursday 5th November with a view to reopening on the 2nd December as long as lockdown is lifted. Gutted is an understatement as business has been thriving since we reopened in June. We can only ask for your continued support when we are allowed to reopen.

Thank you to all of our loyal traders and customers during the last 8 months, your support has been invaluable.

And a massive thank you to all of our staff for staying vigilant, up beat and making the Emporium a safe and happy place to be.

Keep safe, and we’ll see you soon.

JUNE 2020

Emporium reopening - 15th june

The Emporium, along with all non-essential retail, has been given the go ahead to reopen! This will be happening on Monday the 15th June but we will look a little bit different. We have implemented all possible safety measures to ensure our customers feel as comfortable as possible shopping with us. Luckily, as we have such a large building, we have been able to do this very effectively.

Some of these measures include:

  • Sanitising stations on the way in and around the Emporium

  • The Entrance being moved to where the Exit was and vice versa.

  • A one-way system

  • Social distancing markers throughout

  • Limited shoppers in store (we are sorry if you have to wait outside!)

  • Screens for the till area

  • Face masks available should you require one

We please ask our customers and traders to help us ensure the smooth reopening and following these rules whenever visiting. Please try not to touch items unless you are planning on buying them, regularly wash your hands, use contactless methods of paying if possible, keep your distance from other shoppers and respect the one-way system.

The cafe will also be reopening but for takeaway orders only - fully reopened for dine in on the 24th July.

We’re so looking forward to seeing you all back and shopping!

See you soon, PLE

24th March, 2020

temporary closure - emporium & cafe

Due to the new government guidelines regarding all non-essential businesses, we have been forced to close for the foreseeable future. All traders should have received notification via email or phone call regarding what this means for you - if you have not received this please call or email us so that we can inform you.

We, once again, thank all traders and customers alike for your continued support and kindness at this difficult time. We are looking forward to being back open and trading as soon as is safely possible - keep an eye out for updates!

Love from all at PLE

A NOTE TO OUR TRADERS & THANK YOU TO OUR CUSTOMERS

Good afternoon,

We at Petticoat Lane Emporium understand your concerns in the drop of business at this difficult time.

We are and will be working very hard to ensure the business survives this pandemic, and continues to flourish when the UK has recovered.

We are looking into several recourses and government support offerings that may alleviate the pressure of rents for our traders.

We are currently waiting to hear from our advisors and will be keeping you all up to date when this information is received.

Thank you for your support, of which enables the continuation and upkeep of the Emporium, and of course the financial support of our hard-working and wonderful staff.

We would also like to thank any customers that might be reading this message for your continued support. We have been very thankful for those that continue to show up, despite the current situation. We are doing everything in our power to keep the emporium running as per usual whilst ensuring that it is as clean and safe as possible. We are quickly rustling up a Baker Street Cafe takeaway menu for locals so that they can stop by for food without having to touch a single thing (literally, if you pay via contactless), so watch this space.

Yours Sincerely,

Richard, Ruth, and the PLE team

What we’re doing to keep you safe.

We would like our customers to know that we are taking this pandemic very seriously. It is important that we all do just that to help contain the virus and keep those that are vulnerable as safe as possible. Here at PLE, we are doing everything we can to ensure that our premises are safe for all to continue shopping and dining with joy as per usual. We are listening to the government guidelines as and when they come in and doing our best to stay up to date with the situation as it develops.

Here are the latest updates:

Opening Hours

We are remaining open as usual for the time being (10-5pm Monday-Saturday, 10-4pm on Sundays).

Sanitisation

Our staff are being extra vigilant regarding hygiene and sanitisation. All frequently used touch points are being disinfected regularly, such as door handles, bathroom taps, card machines, customer counters etc. Our front door will remain wedged open to avoid frequent touching on both sides.

All crockery, cutlery, mugs, glasses etc are being washed extra thoroughly with hot water and soap in our café. All tables are being cleaned with antibacterial spray after every use to keep any unwanted germs away.

Staff & Visitors

Our staff are washing their hands with anti-bacterial soap regularly, especially in the café. Any staff with flu or cold-like symptoms shall be sent home immediately to self-isolate. Even if just precautionary. We kindly ask, and expect, all customers to adhere to these same standards.

Card Payments Preferred

To reduce the risk of contamination from handling cash we would prefer if you could pay with debit or credit card for the time being, especially contactless where possible. Card machines are being sanitised regularly.

Thank you for visiting us during these tough times, we need your support now more than ever.

Please take this pandemic seriously and take every possible precaution when going out, not just for your well-being but for others too. After all, we are all in this together.

Love from all at PLE x
